Compassion Training (CBCT)
CT (Cognitively Based Compassion Training) Fall 2026 – Invitation to Apply
CBCT is one of the longest-running and most studied compassion training protocols of its kind, created by Dr. Tenzin Negi, Director of the Contemplative Sciences and Compassion Based Ethics Department at Emory University. CBCT offers a comprehensive method for training compassion, supported by scientific research in fields such as evolutionary biology, psychology, and neuroscience. CBCT is a secular program based on the Buddhist Lo Jong (mind-training) tradition.
Before applying, please make certain you can meet all requirements. Although the program is being offered at no-cost to you, the value to participants is priceless. If you accept a spot, please recognize we reserve that for you, which means someone else can’t attend. This is small-group training funded by DeKalb Wellness Dollars. Wellness dollars are precious! Please carefully consider if this program is a fit for you at this time.
Over the course of 9 weeks, we will explore:
- strengthening your skills of resilience,
- learning to stabilize your attention,

- learn how to practice compassion for yourself and for others,
- compassion as a leadership skill
- develop or deepen a meditation practice
- learn how to reappraise situations to create greater wellbeing
- enlarge your capacity for a growth mindset
