Wellness Reimbursements
DeKalb County offers three types of wellness reimbursements.
Fitness Center
If you’ve been employed by DeKalb County and a member of a licensed exercise facility or school for 12 months or longer, you can apply for a Fitness Center Reimbursement to receive 50% of your annual membership fees, up to $300 for an individual membership and $500 for a family membership.
Licensed exercise facilities and schools include:
- Health clubs
- Gyms
- YMCAs
- Swimming pools
- Centers offering martial arts, yoga, or aerobics
- Boot camps
Note: Participation for sports teams can also be eligible but you must be the main participant (i.e., you may not submit for your child’s sports).
Only one Fitness Center Reimbursement is permitted per year.
Required Documentation
- Payment records for 12 months from your gym or bank statement
- Attendance records from your gym for 12 months with a minimum of 4 visits per month (if applying for a family reimbursement, you’ll also need to submit attendance records for a family member showing a minimum of 4 visits per month).
Processing/Payment Information
Reimbursements are processed every two weeks. Once reviewed and approved, reimbursements are submitted to payroll for review and approval.
Reimbursements are classified as income, so the amount submitted is subject to taxes.
If the resulting amount is less than $200, it is added to your paycheck deposit. If the amount is over $200, it is deposited separately from your paycheck.
Weight Watchers and Noom
Weight Watchers members who attend meetings or participate in the digital program are eligible to receive $50 for every 5% of weight lost. To determine how many pounds you have to lose to get to a 5% weight loss, take your current weight and multiply it by 0.05. Complete the Weight Watchers Reimbursement Request and submit required documentation to receive your reimbursement.
Required Documentation
You must submit a copy of your complete Weight Watchers membership book signed by your Weight Watchers Leader or a screenshot of starting weight with screenshots of each 5% weight loss.
Learn to Swim
If you are taking swim lessons, you can receive reimbursement for some of the cost. The amount you receive will be based on your total cost divided by two with a minimum reimbursement of $25, and a maximum of $75. Complete the Learn to Swim Reimbursement Form and submit required documentation to receive your reimbursement. Note: Only lessons designed for proficiency in the water will be reimbursed; lap swimming is not eligible for reimbursement.
Required Documentation
- Proof of payment
- Proof of attendance (you must attend all classes for your session)
- Certificate of general swimming ability
